Trigger Point Injections

Sometimes, when we are met with muscular injuries or strain, our muscle fibers, and the ligament becomes weakened, inflamed, overstretched, and even a tiny tear in the associated tissue can occur. Over time, when the tissue heals, it contracts itself becoming twisted and knotted. This is called a Trigger point, and it irritates the nearby nerves causing pain in our body.

Hence, Trigger point injection was introduced to treat those painful areas of muscles containing trigger points. The procedure involves a physician inserting a small needle that contains local anesthetic and corticosteroid into the trigger point area. This inactivates the trigger point and alleviates the pain for several weeks to months. Sometimes, the injection might be inserted on multiple sites. The whole process takes just a few minutes, and then you can go home.
