You may experience lower back pain during your everyday activities. The pain may begin suddenly and limit your ability to walk, stand or even sit. This may be of serious concern.
So, what exactly cause lower back pain?
- Common cause: The most common cause of lower back pain is typically during heavy lifting or after trauma – such as in a car accident or slip and fall at work. Lack of exercise can also predispose you to low back pain. In females, pregnancy can also cause lower back pain.
- Disc Problems – All of us have jelly-like substance in between our vertebrae in the spine – called disc. The disc is responsible for allowing bending, flexing, and twisting of the lower back. Over time, the discs deteriorate due to our age. This restricts the lower back movement, and with any forceful movements we may experience pain.
- Nerve damage: If there is compression, inflammation, or injury to your spinal nerve root, there will be unbearable pain in our lower back. This type of pain will travel to the legs causing numbness and pins and needles sensation in the toes.
- Underlying conditions: There are many underlying conditions whose symptoms cause pain in the lower back. These conditions are Osteoporosis, Rheumatologic disorders, Fibromyalgia, and Inflammatory diseases of the joints.
- Other serious and rare conditions: There are some serious medical conditions that also cause lower back pain. These rare conditions are Infections, Tumors, Cauda equine syndrome, and abdominal aortic aneurysms.
